Creating Heirloom Mission Arts & Crafts Furniture to fit your home or office

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in mid-19th century Great Britain partly as a revolt against the overly elaborate, mass-produced furniture spawned in the Victorian age. This was a reaction to the social consequences of the Industrial Revolution, especially the declining public interest. William Morris, an English architect and artist, was the leading proponent and evangelist of the Arts and Crafts movement. The furniture eventually became quite popular and known as "Craftsman Furniture", primarily due to the promotion of Arts and Crafts and Craftsman line of furniture, by designer and manufacturer Gustav Stickley, who studied the designs of Morris while on a visit to England.

Simply Wood Designs, LLC, takes Mission Arts and Crafts furniture to the next level by providing custom design and construction. This allows the client to have a unique piece of Arts and Crafts furniture designed to fit their specific space or niche.

About the Craftsman.......  Bob Zicafoose was born in Nebraska and it's there that he found his love for building. It wasn't until the mid nineties that he developed a niche for crafting Southwest designs and then Mission Arts and Crafts furniture. Woodworking began as his hobby, and with his retirement from the engineering profession in 2011, he now pursues his passion full time. He currently resides in Cave Creek, Arizona with his wife, Nancy.

Mission Arts and Crafts furniture is made with hand selected Quartersawn White Oak. This special cut yields a limited quantity of top grade boards featuring ray flake, the decorative wavy pattern prominent in Quartersawn wood. Quartersawn wood sells up to seventy percent more than plain sawn boards.
